Thu 28th September 2017 - The Sollershott Surgery CQC Response
Following the inspection by The Care Quality Commission (CQC) in July 2017 Sollershott Surgery has again been rated inadequate overall and has been kept in Special Measures which has been disappointing for all those involved with the practice. The report, however, recognises the significant improvements the practice has made since the previous inspection in May 2016 and has received a rating of Good for both the ‘Caring’ and ‘Effective’ domains which reflects the focus and efforts of the practice since the change of provider in January 2017.
Since January The Sollershott Surgery has undergone major changes, both in terms of process improvements and staffing. Following the departure of the original partners we have introduced regular long-term locum GPs for set days of the week to ensure continuity of care to patients whilst we are recruiting. We have also brought in our Advanced Nurse Practitioner Julie, who is able to see patients for a number of minor ailments, which in turn has created more capacity for our GPs to treat patients with more complex medical and psychological needs.
We continue to work with NHSE and the East and North Herts Clinical Commissioning Group to continue to look at new ways of working to ensure the delivery of services meets the needs of the patients as well as meeting the regulatory standards required by CQC.
We would like to reassure our patients that the surgery always puts patient care at the heart of its service delivery. We would also like to emphasise the numerous improvements that are mentioned throughout the recent CQC report, these highlight the positive changes the surgery has made and continues to make going forward.
Thanks again to our patients for their continued feedback, which will inevitably help us to improve our services further. We encourage our registered patients to join our Patient Participation Group (PPG) who we are inviting to attend friendly quarterly meetings with staff to drive the PPG forward with its initiatives and strive to further improve our services.
